Bo Naylor Out Of Lineup Saturday

Bo Naylor out of lineup Saturday

Missed game with hand issue

Cleveland Guardians catcher Bo Naylor, the team's top prospect, will miss Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox due to a hand issue, manager Terry Francona said.

Naylor was scratched from Friday's lineup with what the team called a "right hand contusion," and Francona said after the game that Naylor is day to day.

Naylor crucial to Guardians' future

Naylor, the son of former All-Star first baseman Sandy Alomar Jr., is considered one of the top prospects in baseball and is a key part of the Guardians' future plans.

The 23-year-old is batting .266 with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs this season. He has also thrown out 11 of 30 attempted base stealers.

No timetable for return

Francona said there is no timetable for Naylor's return, but he is hopeful that he will be back in the lineup soon.

"We'll see how he is tomorrow," Francona said. "He's getting treatment, and we'll see how he responds."

In Naylor's absence, the Guardians will likely start Luke Maile at catcher. Maile is batting .231 with two home runs and 12 RBIs this season.
